Philosophy

Brightest Stars Academy is a Montessori-inspired childcare serving infants to preschool aged children in Agoura Hills, California. 

The Brightest Stars Academy Curriculum ensures that a high-quality learning experience is offered to each child and their development outcomes meet or exceed the national standards for early childhood education.  Our Curriculum has four key areas:  child centered, culturally responsive, standard-based, and Montessori-inspired.  These four areas drive our decisions on what is taught in our classrooms.

1.       Child Centered:  The child is at the center of every Curriculum decision made, and we put the needs of the child above all else.  Our Curriculum meets the child where they are and prioritizes all areas of child development.  We believe the children develop concepts in the cultural arts, language arts, mathematics, sciences, and social studies by actively exploring discovering, and creating through “play.”

2.      Culturally Responsive:  Children thrive when the curriculum is engaging and personally reflective of their lived experiences.  At Bright Stars Academy, we take time to get to know each child and family.  Every child’s culture and strengths are identified and nurtured to promote student achievement and a sense of well-being and belonging.

3.      Standards Based:  Our Curriculum and activities are developmentally appropriate that are aligned to research-based standards for student success.  These standards allow us to track developmental milestones and inform individualized instruction.  Frequently monitoring progress of the whole child enables educators to focus on each individual child and make appropriate curricular decisions.  Our activities are inspired by what is happening in the world around us.

4.      Core Montessori- Inspired Approach:  The Montessori approach allows every child to develop naturally- to learn and grow at their own pace.  Our Curriculum is also inspired by a variety of philosophies and approaches, which we blend together into a program that reflects our commitment to helping children lay the best possible social, emotional, physical, and cognitive foundations.   

We believe early education is fundamentally important in providing a foundation for self-esteem:  cooperation, social values of sharing, and friendship:  respect and understanding for others from different backgrounds and developing a foundation for future academic achievement.  Therefore, we provide your child with weekly group lessons in music, sports and other enrichment classes by qualified teachers and coaches. 

We believe that all children deserve an equal start in early education.  Our goal is to nurture the potential in every child to become a creative leader, original thinker, and lifelong learner.
